Wolftown make contemporary gins and spirits, crafted in small batches in the UK. Their name takes inspiration from the festival town of Ulverston, in South Lakeland: “Wolftown” comes from the town’s original name in Old Norse, as well as the wolf which appears on Ulverston’s coat of arms. Both their Signature and Citrus Gins have won a raft of international awards, notably a Great Taste Award each, a bronze award in the International Wine and Spirits Competition, and an outright win in the flavoured gin category of the Gin Guide Awards.
Wolftown’s husband-and-wife founders are native to the Lake District and Newcastle, and run Wolftown alongside their original jobs, as a travel agent and international sports videographer respectively. This shows their conviction that they could create a truly unique gin: Cumbrian in origin, but contemporary and versatile in style.
Both artisan gins are made to Wolftown’s original recipe and distilled in England. Sarsaparilla root is the star addition to their distinctive Signature Gin, inspired by the founders’ Cumbrian upbringing and rounding off a truly unique flavour profile; while their Citrus Gin is set apart by the addition of oats from Little Salkeld Watermill in the Lake District, perfectly balancing the fresh citrus notes. As well as being produced entirely in the UK, both gins are crafted at a solar powered distillery, which uses only 20% of the energy of a classic still – any environmental impact from production or haulage miles is therefore minimised compared to other gins.
