Ali Sidney, the face behind West Coast Interiors, creates a beautiful collection of luxury home goods and furnishings. Her studio is based in the village of Seascale, on the west coast of Cumbria, overlooking the Irish sea. This dramatic view and her coastal surroundings provide inspiration for her designs, where she loves to produce unique bespoke items of furniture using luxury fabrics. Her mission is simple – to infuse your home with beauty and functionality through the highest quality products.
Ali started her career as a school photographer, however, after 20 years she decided to return to her passion of working with fabrics. She retrained at The Ministry of Upholstery in Manchester, and she is now a member of the association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers.
Ali has taken these skills, to create products that are functional and beautiful whilst also telling a story of the local landscape. She is inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us, as well as Cumbria’s fascinating industrial history. For example, her lampshade bases repurpose bobbins reclaimed from Northern Mills and her shades use Herdwick wool.
This aligns with our mission to support Cumbrian heritage industries, and we are pleased to stock a selection of her home furnishings as well as her outdoor range of sits mats and foraging bags.
