Urban Apothecary was founded in 2012 by Tajinder Banwait MBE, at her kitchen table. With her love for fragrance, Tajinder had a vision to reimagine the traditional ingredients of flowers, fruit, resins and woods through a contemporary lens. Each aroma is inspired by personal memories to create products that bring original scents to the home whilst evoking powerful moods.
Tajinder is the ‘nose’ behind Urban Apothecary. From a young age she has been passionate about holding onto key memories through fragrance. She believes that moments can be remembered by a scent snapshot, with every fragrance recounting a personal experience.
Despite its humble beginnings, over the last decade Urban Apothecary has grown in popularity and has established a strong cult following. Starting with only 10 products, Urban Apothecary now boasts an impressive collection of over 100. Urban Apothecary have also won many awards including the prestigious ‘Queen’s Award for Enterprise’ recognising their success in international trade, and the Pure Beauty silver award for Best New Home Fragrance. In 2024, Tajinder was awarded an MBE for her services to Business and the Beauty Industry.
