Sue Scott

Sue Scott is a Manchester-based artists whose time in both the UK’s rural and urban landscapes has shaped her work. At Grasmere Gather, we’re proud to stock her prints, capturing the beauty of the Lake District with her distinctive bold style.

Sue’s artistic journey began in childhood, where she spent time in both Manchester and the countryside of Herefordshire and Shropshire. This connection to both the city and country landscapes has stuck with Sue, who has since spent time in the gothic city of Aberdeen as well as rural Scotland. She is now based back in Manchester, but this contrast has continued to influence her work and deepen her appreciation of the diversity of British landscapes.

Not only does she paint the dynamic skyline of Manchester, but she paints our wonderful Lake District, allowing her to stay connected with nature and the changing seasons. Her bold use of colour and sharp, graphic lines captures the vibrancy of the varied British countryside, portraying the distinct character of each region.

At Grasmere Gather, we stock the Grasmere and Rydal Water prints which celebrate the breathtaking scenery we’re fortunate to have right on our doorstep. Both signed prints are of an original acrylic painting, the former depicts Grasmere and the reflections of the surrounding fells. This was painted on an almost perfectly still day, creating the tranquil water conditions needed for such vibrant and clear reflections. The latter is a view of Rydal Water from Nab Scar on the Fairfield Horseshoe.
