Pump Street are a family-run company based in Suffolk, who started producing their award-winning craft chocolate from their cosy bakery in 2012. They moved to their larger Suffolk factory premises in 2017, allowing them to accommodate increasing demand for their chocolate whilst still maintaining their artisan, small-batch production process. Pump Street chocolate has never swayed from its original principles of exceptional flavour, quality, and ethics.
As part of the growing ‘craft chocolate’ movement, Pump Street are seeking to revive traditional methods of chocolate making, putting the focus back on taste, simplicity, innovation, and ethical supply chains. These key elements of ‘craft’ – quality, authenticity, and artistry – stand in bold opposition to the mass-production ethos of most modern, industrial chocolate.
In order to prioritise the ethics and traceability of their cacao, Pump Street pay a fair price to farmers – on average four times more than mass-produced commodity chocolate. In doing so they are proud to support these local communities, as well as ensuring these farmers can maintain their farm and crops in an environmentally responsible way. Pump Street also uses entirely plastic-free, compostable packaging as part of their sustainability mission.
