The Northumberland Honey Company was founded in 2015, when husband-and-wife team Suzie and Luke started producing honey from their own bee colonies in Northumberland, near Hadrian’s Wall. Still a family business, they produce delicious pure, natural British honey from their 250 colonies of bees throughout the Tyne and Irthing Valleys, in the North of England.
Each jar of their honey is individually numbered, meaning it can be traced back to the exact location and beehives where the honey was produced. Honey is a seasonal product, meaning each jar is unique – varieties like their Heather, Wildflower or Cumbrian farmland honeys will all have a distinctly different flavour.
Suzie, Luke and their small team of beekeepers are all incredibly passionate about breeding sustainable bees – ensuring the future of the honeybee and the UK beekeeping industry, which are both at risk. They only use organic treatments for pest control in their colonies, and carefully breed their bees to improve the genetic risk of survival. As a result, their bees produce top quality honeys that are also natural and sustainable – showcasing the best of British produce from the North.
