Bare Bones Chocolate Ltd

Bare Bones is an award-winning chocolate maker, and one of the UK’s only bean-to-bar producers. This means that every single step of the chocolate making process – from cacao bean through to finished bar – is done onsite in their Glasgow factory, creating an incredibly high quality chocolate with guaranteed provenance.

Determined to make better products than mass-produced, industrial chocolate, Bare Bones selects the best cacao beans from rare origins around the world, paying well above fair trade market price for them. By paying this premium you can guarantee high-quality crops, while also securing the future of these sustainable cacao farms and building a close, mutually beneficial relationship with the individual farmers.

Once they arrive in Glasgow, the cacao beans are hand-sorted, roasted in 5kg batches, cracked and winnowed, ground, then aged for 2-3 weeks so the flavour can develop (much like wine or cheese). After aging, the products are finally tempered, then wrapped, labelled, and stamped by hand.

All of Bare Bones’ chocolate is wrapped in Vegware compostable sheets, and then placed in boxes made from recycled coffee cups. This means all their packaging is from recycled sources, and 100% recyclable or compostable after use.
